TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH N.M. SAVKO & SONS, INC., FOR CONCRETE STREET REPAIR, IMPROVEMENT NO. 747; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids were opened on April 7, 2000, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to proceed with this contract at the earliest possible date due to the current construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into contract with N.M. SAVCO & SONS, INC., 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214, for the Concrete Street Repair, Improvement No. 747, in accordance with bid and city specifications.
Section 2. That to cover the herein costs, funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS ($189,225) was set aside to Account No. 101.145.5546, Capital Projects Streets, in the 2000 Appropriations.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
