TITLE

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR ALTERNATIVE FUNDING FROM THE OHIO URBAN FORESTRY GRANT PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION OF FORESTRY

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes the importance of maintaining and expanding its urban forest to improve community health, environmental quality, and neighborhood aesthetics; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna intends to apply for funding through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry Grant Program for the purpose of planting approximately 200 street trees near the I-270 outer belt; and

 

WHEREAS, the City has the staff, resources, and commitment necessary to carry out the tree planting and maintenance activities required by the grant.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. The City of Gahanna is hereby authorized to apply for and accept funding through the Ohio Urban Forestry Grant Program administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry.

 

Section 2. The Mayor and/or her designee is authorized to execute all documents necessary for the application and administration of the grant, including entering into agreements with the State of Ohio as required.

 

Section 3. The City of Gahanna affirms its responsibility for the maintenance and care of all trees planted with funds from this grant, in accordance with ANSI standards and ISA best practices.

 

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
