WHEREAS, the IT Director wishes to purchase four new Dell rack-mountable servers to replace current servers; one being built from various parts and having no warranty; two not being servers and having no warranty; and one being extremely unreliable in the past; and

 

WHEREAS, the reasons for standardizing on equipment are (1) top support from Dell, rather than from various vendors; (2) common tools and hardware for IT support staff to remain current in, (3) bulk pricing discounts;and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance as soon as possible, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with DELL COMPUTER CORPORATION, ONE DELL WAY, ROUND ROCK, TEXAS 78682, for the purchase of four rack-mountable servers.

 

Section 2.  That the bidding process is hereby waived.

 

Section 3.  That funding in the amount of TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND FORTY SEVEN DOLLARS ($25,047) was set aside in the 2003 Appropriations to Account No. 101.348.5511, IT Hardware-Servers, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
