TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS FOR THE PURPOSES OF MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN COST-SHARING

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the 2023 Budget and 2023 Unclassified Ordinance authorized by Council provided funding for the position of a mental health clinician within the Department of Public Safety; and

 

WHEREAS, the mental health clinician will work collaboratively with the Gahanna Division of Police community liaison officer (CLO) and other Division resources, along with the Mifflin Township Fire Department’s community paramedic to provide mental health services and coordination with external resources to residents in need; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed contract with Mifflin Township will require Mifflin Township to pay the City $40,000 annually toward the clinician’s salary and benefits; and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement commences July 1, 2023, and concludes June 30, 2026; and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement has been reviewed and approved by the Mifflin Township Board of Trustees.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That this Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Mifflin Township for mental health clinician cost-sharing for a period commencing July 1, 2023, and concluding June 30, 2026, for the terms described within EXHIBIT A attached hereto and made a part herein.

 

 

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
