RECOGNIZING MARCH 1998 AS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MONTH

WHEREAS, history has dictated that a strong Chamber of Commerce means sure and certain Welcome signs on the faces of residents and business owner in any community; and
WHEREAS, Gahanna founded a Chamber of Commerce in 1981, which at that time was composed of mainly local business people trying to build a unified front for success; and
WHEREAS, being a volunteer organization, the local Chamber of Commerce struggled with costs of maintaining an accountable business, which would be available to the public and in an accessible location and, in 1996, stretched its horizons and became the GAHANNA-JEFFERSON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE; and
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Ohio has designated March 1998 as CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MONTH in Ohio; and
WHEREAS, the Governor's proclamation comes at a time of strength for the GAHANNA-JEFFERSON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, which now boasts 355 members and brand new offices;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration hereby join in the celebration of March 1998 as Chamber of Commerce Month, and take this opportunity to honor our local businesses, residents, and volunteers who have, through diligent effort and expertise, led our GAHANNA-JEFFERSON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE to its present level of integrity and strength.
Section 2. That GAHANNA-JEFFERSON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE is commended for its excellence of programming, with a 21st Century vision of goals and objectives that encompass the entire Gahanna-Jefferson business and residential area.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon signature.
