TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR INSPECTION SERVICES FOR THE 2000 ASPHALT OVERLAY, IMPROVEMENT NO, 749; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $74,340; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids were opened on May 26, 2000, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and

 

WHEREAS, due to pending construction season, it is desirable to proceed with this 2000 Asphalt Overlay Program at the earliest possible date, and it is imperative to have qualified inspection on these various projects, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Agreement with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 170 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230 for inspection services for the 2000 Asphalt Overlay Program, Improvement No. 749, in accordance with bid and City specifications, said Agreement attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That to cover the herein costs, funding in the amount of SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FORTY DOLLARS ($74,340) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in The General Fund to Account No. 101.431.5511, Capital Projects, Streets.

 

Section 3.  That to further cover the herein costs, funding in the amount of ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($1,160) was set aside in the 2000 Appropriations to Account No. 101.431.5511, Capital Projects, Parks.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
