TO AMEND CONTRACT WITH KOKOSING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY; TO ALLOW FOR THE ADDITION OF ADA RAMPS ALONG HIGHBURY CRESCENT AND TO PAVE AN ADDITIONAL 1,175' OF THE WESTBOUND PORTION OF US 62 WEST OF STYGLER ROAD; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City would like to add 16 ADA ramps along Highbury Crescent and pave the westbound portion of US 62 from Stygler Road to a point 1,175' west where the pavement improves; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended that this work be added by amending the contract with Kokosing; work authorized by ORD-0122-2008; and

 

WHEREAS, work is ongoing and a change order can be issued to include this additional work; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project in order to complete the work while related work is ongoing and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into amended contract with KOKOSING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, 6235 Westerville Road, Westerville, Ohio 43081, for additional paving of US 62 and installation of ADA ramps on Highbury Crescent; said amendment attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED EIGHT THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED NINETY DOLLARS ($108,190) was set aside in the 2008 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5513, Engineering Capital Streets, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That second reading is hereby waived.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
