TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH B & C COMMUNICATIONS FOR EQUIPPING AND UPFITTING TEN POLICE VEHICLES; TO WAIVE THE BID PROCESS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has purchased 10 new police cruisers which need equipping and upfitting of necessary equipment and accessories; and
WHEREAS, B & C Communications a local company that has worked upfitting other police vehicles for the City and they are familiar with our fleet and the technology we use and are able to do the upfit immediately; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended we proceed with B & C Communications; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance so the cruiser upfitting can take place and the cruisers can be on the road as soon as possible, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with B & C COMMUNICATIONS, 1330 Stimmel Road, Columbus, Ohio 43223, for equipping and upfitting of ten police cruisers with necessary equipment, graphics and accessories, as specified in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
Section 2. That the bid process is hereby waived.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($160,000) is available in Account No. 101.211.5515, Police Vehicle Replacement Program, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
