A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT APPLICATION FOR THE SOUDER DITCH STREET INFILTRATION WATERSHED PROJECT-OHIO EPA GRANT.

WHEREAS, funding is currently available for qualified projects through the Section 319(h) Non-Point Source Grant Program administered by the Ohio EPA; and
WHEREAS, this project is a "green street" project, similar to the Farmwood Place Street Infiltration project completed last year, which included replacement of conventional asphalt/concrete and gutters with asphalt underlain by a stone base with permeable paver gutters, to provide base infiltration under the pavement; and
WHEREAS, this concept, as well as other green street approaches, such as permeable pavement, will be evaluated to facilitate street runoff infiltration; and
WHEREAS, this project will be located within the Souder Ditch Watershed to improve water quality and to reduce peak flows in the Ditch which has experienced some erosion in the back yards of some property owners; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is eligible to apply towards the total project cost to benefit its citizens and environment; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for the Souder Ditch Street Infiltration Watershed Project - Ohio EPA Grant.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
