Title

TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING FOR THE HAMILTON ROAD AND BEECHER ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT #719; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

 

Body

WHEREAS, bids were opened on April 30, 1999, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable to proceed with this contract at the earliest possible date due to the pending construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Director of Public Service is authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into contract with COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING, 1850 McKinley Avenue, Columbus OH  43222, for the Hamilton Road and Beecher Road Intersection Improvement, Improvement #719, in accordance with bid and City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That to cover the herein costs, funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED FORTY SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($147,500) was set aside in the 1999 Appropriations in Account Number 101.145.5541, Streets, Capital Projects.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
