TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH FRANKLIN COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH FOR MOSQUITO MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR 2008; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $6,479; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, mosquito season is upon us and the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed to enter into contract with the Franklin County Board of Health for mosquito management services; and

 

WHEREAS, the charge for the City is determined by multiplying our population figures by the per capita rate of $.19, and a supplemental appropriation will be needed; and

 

WHEREAS, it is truly imperative to move forward with this contract for the safety of Gahanna residents, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with FRANKLIN COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH, 280 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215, for Mosquito Management Services for 2008; Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SIX THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SEVENTY NINE DOLLARS ($6,479) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund, to Account No. 101.141.5249, Lands & Buildings, Contract Services, to cover there herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
