TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE (FOP) - OHIO LABOR COUNCIL (OLC) COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT CONTRACT FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1, 2025 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2027; WAIVING SECOND READING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City’s Communications Technicians I and II are covered under the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) / Ohio Labor Council, Inc. (OLC); and

 

WHEREAS, the City and the FOP/OLC have reached a tentative agreement on the 2025-2027 contract, with the bargaining unit voting in favor of adopting the successor agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Administrative Services and the Division of Police request passage of the Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to sign the contract with Council’s waiver of second reading and declaration of an emergency for the preservation of public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; to wit: implementing the contract terms by January 1, 2025, and meeting State Employee Relations Board filing deadlines.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a Bargaining Unit Agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. for the period beginning and terms effective January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027; said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble above, the second reading is hereby waived, and this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure which shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on the date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
