Title

 

TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH OHIO MUNICIPAL LEAGUE JOINT SELF INSURANCE POOL; FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL AND COMPREHENSIVE GENERAL LIABILITY; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, proposal has been received for total insurance premium of the City of Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Director of Public Service that a contract for this insurance has not yet been authorized; and

 

WHEREAS, this insurance is very difficult to obtain and an emergency exists in that a new contract must be in order to effect the necessary protection for these branches of municipal government, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section  1.  That the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with OHIO MUNICIPAL LEAGUE JOINT SELF INSURANCE POOL, 175 South Third Street, Columbus, Ohio  43215 for total insurance premium, in accordance with bid submitted May 19, 1998, and in accordance with City specifications; bid tabulation attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of  $60,891 was set aside in the 1998 Appropriations in the following accounts:

 

 101.141.5282 INSURANCE-LANDS & BUILDINGS

 101.211.5284 INSURANCE-POLICE

 101.433.5285 INSURANCE-GOLF COURSE-LIQUOR  LIABILITY

 220.330.5281 INSURANCE-STREETS VEHICLES

 651.350.5281 INSURANCE-WATER VEHICLES

 661.360.5281 INSURANCE-SEWER VEHICLES.

 

Section 3.  That said contract may be renewed annually with the mutual consent of the City and the agent.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
