RECOGNIZING JUNE 21, 2003 AS JOIN HANDS DAY

WHEREAS, to promote making neighborhoods better, a national event has been created to help unite young people and adults in this cause; and
WHEREAS, on this day volunteer teams will repair playground equipment, help seniors, remove trash from streets and many more projects, the possibilities of which are only limited by the imagination; and
WHEREAS, JOIN HANDS DAY calls upon all Americans to reach across generations and work with new friends in identifying and fixing problem conditions locally; and
WHEREAS, JOIN HANDS DAY is sponsored by The Points of Light Foundation, the Volunteer Center National Network and America's Fraternal Benefit Societies including Gleaner Life Insurance Society;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby recognizes June 21, 2003 as JOIN HANDS DAY, and hopes for its continued success.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council.
