AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION: Workers Compensation Self Insurance Fund

WHEREAS, the City is self-insured for workers compensation but it must still pay annual assessments to the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) for administrative costs and other activities; and
WHEREAS, the City’s claims experience was higher than anticipated in 2020, due in large part to COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the current assessment due to the BWC exceeds the amount currently appropriated, therefore a supplemental appropriation is requested
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of forty eight thousand dollars and zero cents ($48,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund (9000) and appropriated as follows:
To account #900.05.000.5205 - $8,000
To account #900.05.000.5230 - $40,000
Section 2. That the second reading is hereby waived.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
