TO APPOINT ISOBEL L. SHERWOOD, CMC/AAE, AS CLERK OF COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Clerk of Council position is vacant due to retirement; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.09, Clerk and Other Employees, of the City Charter, this Council has the power to appoint a Clerk of Council; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to appoint Isobel L. Sherwood, CMC/AAE, as Clerk of Council after having served as Deputy Clerk of Council since January, 1987; and
WHEREAS, Isobel L. Sherwood, CMC/AAE has been an employee of the City for almost 17 years; and
WHEREAS, for the orderly flow of business in the Council Office and for interaction with the administration it is deemed necessary to make this appointment as quickly as possible, all for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Gahanna;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That effective the date of passage of this ordinance, Isobel L. Sherwood, CMC/AAE is appointed to the position of Clerk of Council for the City of Gahanna.
Section 2. That compensation for this position is hereby set at $48,000 as provided in Article II of the master salary ordinance for unclassified personnel.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
