TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO REAL ESTATE PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH VIRGIE A. & ROCCO EVANGELISTA FOR 0.254 ACRES OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 4427 EAST JOHNSTOWN ROAD; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $20,619; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, this property is located on the southwest corner of E. Johnstown Rd. and YMCA Place and has been abandoned for some time and the property owner has agreed to sell it to the City for $20,000; and
WHEREAS, the YMCA has agreed to have the property added to their ground lease and to reimburse the City over a five year period; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this purchase so that demolition of the house on the property can be completed, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Real Estate Purchase Contract with VIRGIE A. & ROCCO EVANGELISTA for purchase of 0.254 acres of land at 4427 East Johnstown Road; Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED NINETEEN DOLLARS ($20,619) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered,unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5531, Engineering - Land Acquisition, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2011, passed January 3, 2011, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
