AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE AND ENGINEERING TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH BELFOR FOR REPAIRS OF THE OKLAHOMA AVENUE SERVICE COMPLEX STORAGE BINS; WAIVING SECOND READING; DECLARING IT AN EMERGENCY.
BODY
WHEREAS, the roof of the storage bins located at the Oklahoma Avenue Service Complex recently blew off the structure during heavy storm winds; and
WHEREAS, the structure has been deemed unsafe by the Chief Building Official, which now prohibits the use of the facility; and
WHEREAS, Ohio Municipal Joint Self-Insurance Pool has already issued payment for $49,083.63 and upon completion of repairs will issue additional payment up to $4,983.01 for applicable replacement cost holdback; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this Ordinance for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor and Director of Public Service and Engineering are hereby authorized to enter into contract with Belfor Property Restoration, 7795 Corporate Blvd., Suite E., Plain City, Ohio, 43064 in the amount of sixty-five thousand dollars and zero cents ($65,000).
Section 2. An amount of sixty-five thousand dollars and zero cents ($65,000) shall be appropriated to account 1011.1410.522 (Maintenance Services) from the unappropriated/unencumbered General Fund.
Section 3. That pursuant to Gahanna City Code section 135.05(e)(3) competitive bidding is hereby suspended.
Section 4. That the second reading is hereby waived.
Section 5. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
