TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO PROPERTY/LIABILITY INSURANCE RENEWAL CONTRACT WITH THE OHIO MUNICIPAL LEAGUE; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the City decided to hire a consultant to evaluate our Liability/Property Insurance; and
WHEREAS, Frank Loehnert, the consultant hired, has completed his investigation into our options for property/liability insurance; and
WHEREAS, a letter of recommendation has been received from Frank Loehnert, Jr, to renew our contract with The Ohio Municipal League for the 2003-2004 policy year; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to move forward with this matter as quickly as possible because the current policy expiration date has already passed, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into renewal contract with the Ohio Municipal League, P.O. Box 640254, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45264-0254 to renew property/liability insurance.
Section 2. That funds in the amount of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY SIX THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS ($156,109) have been set aside in the 2003 Appropriations in the following accounts.

Account Number 101.211.5284 - INSURANCE - POLICE
Account Number 101.433.5285 - INSURANCE - GOLF COURSE
Account Number 101.438.5285 - INSURANCE - POOL
Account Number 220.330.5281 - INSURANCE - STREETS
Account Number 651.350.5281 - INSURANCE - WATER
Account Number 661.360.5281 - INSURANCE - SEWER
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
