TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE OHIO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR A SURFACE WATER IMPROVEMENT FUND (SWIF) GRANT

WHEREAS, the Director of Parks & Recreation is requesting authorization to apply for a Surface Water Improvement Fund (SWIF) Grant for conservation work at Creekside Island, Friendship park and the Southwest Floodplain; and
WHEREAS, the maximum grant available is $150,000 and is 100% reimbursable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. This Council finds and determines that applying for grant assistance funds from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for a Surface Water Improvement Grant Funds is in the best interest of the citizens of this community.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed by this Council to submit a grant application in a timely manner to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
Section 3. That the City of Gahanna does agree to obligate the funds required to satisfactorily complete the proposed project.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
