TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH FRANKLIN COUNTY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A PORTION OF HAMILTON ROAD BETWEEN CLARK STATE ROAD AND JOHNSTOWN ROAD/U.S. ROUTE 62; SAID PROJECT IN THE JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA

WHEREAS, Hamilton Road between Clark State Road and Johnstown Road/U.S. 62 has utility to the general public of Franklin County as well as to the citizens of the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, Hamilton Road is an important roadway on the county and municipal highway system for through traffic, and the public interest demands its rehabilitation; and
WHEREAS, Franklin County through the County Engineer, and the City of Gahanna, through its Mayor, do hereby mutually agree to cooperate in the planning, design and construction of the project; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the general scope of the project will include the widening of Hamilton Road between Clark State Road and Johnstown Road/U.S. 62 along with the miscellaneous work required for the improvement; and
WHEREAS, ORD-0082-2008 previously approved a cooperation agreement with the County; and
WHEREAS, with the award of MORPC attributable STP Funding and the passage of ORD-0047-2011 naming the City as the lead local agency for the project, a new cooperative agreement with the County is needed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Cooperative Agreement between Franklin County and the City of Gahanna, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That the City of Gahanna declares the improvement necessary.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
