TO REESTABLISH THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY AS A PART TIME POSITION; TO ESTABLISH COMPENSATION THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate and necessary to reestablish the part-time position of Director of Public Safety for the City; and
WHEREAS, since with the growth of the Department, the duties of the Director of Public Safety have increased, and it is deirable, upon recommendation of the Administration, to reestablish compensation for this part-time position; and
WHEREAS, it is prudent to proceed at the earliest possible date to effect such compensation for the smooth operation of the Department of Public Safety, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the position of Director of Public Safety of the City of Gahanna, Ohio is hereby reestablished as a part-time position.
Section 2. That compensation for this part-time position is hereby established at Eight Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($8,400) per year, retroactive to January 2, 2001, payable at regular pay periods.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth inthe preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
