TITLE
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 921.04 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA TO UPDATE SEWERAGE SYSTEM CAPACITY CHARGES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BODY
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 921.04(B) of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Gahanna, the Director of Public Service is required to annually review sewerage system capacity charges; and
WHEREAS, Section 921.04(C) provides that adjustments to sewerage capacity charges shall be made if the City of Columbus increases its capacity charges; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus has announced its increase of sewerage capacity charges effective April 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Administration has reviewed the updated rates and recommends corresponding adjustments to the City of Gahanna's sewerage system capacity charges in accordance with City Code; and
WHEREAS, the proposed amendments to Section 921.04, as set forth in the attached redlined code (EXHIBIT A) reflect the necessary updates to the fee schedule; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to update the Codified Ordinances to ensure that the revised sewerage system capacity charges take effect concurrent with the City of Columbus rate increase on April 1, 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Section 921.04 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Gahanna is hereby amended to update the sewerage system capacity charges as set forth in EXHIBIT A, which is incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. That the Administration is hereby authorized and directed to implement the updated sewerage system capacity charges effective April 1, 2026.
Section 3. That existing rates shall remain in effect until the effective date of the amended charges.
Section 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare of the City, in order to ensure that the City's sewerage capacity...
