TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION OF GAHANNA FOR A TERM BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2026, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2026, TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY FOR THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BODY
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has historically entered into an annual agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation of Gahanna (CIC) for the purpose of promoting and encouraging the economic stability of the City; and
WHEREAS, the CIC’s activities continue to enhance the economic vitality of the community, benefitting the citizens of Gahanna through development projects focused on business retention, expansion, and attraction strategies; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna desires to renew an agreement for a term of twelve months beginning January 1, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Administration requests passage of the Ordinance as an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation the public peace, safety, health, and welfare of the City of Gahanna; to wit: implementing the agreement to be effective for the new year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation of Gahanna beginning January 1, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026, for the purpose of assisting with economic development initiatives for the City of Gahanna; said Agreement is attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and incorporated herein.
Section 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble above, this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure which shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on the date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
