TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC., FOR PURCHASE OF A MOTOROLA APX 7500 CONSOLETTE RADIO FOR POLICE RADIO DISPATCHING; UNDER OHIO STATE TERM SCHEDULE PRICING, #STS 573077-0-1; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $6,600; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, in 2008 the Police Department purchased four operator position dispatch consoles for the radio room and one of the units has reached end of life with one of its main components failing; and
WHEREAS, this unit serves as the primary control station for the Police radio communications platform; and
WHEREAS, quote for the updated unit was received and the Chief of Police has recommended we proceed with Motorola Solutions for the purchase; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this purchase for the smooth and efficient running of the police radio communications dispatching unit and for the safety of the citizens of Gahanna, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC., 1301 East Algonquin Road, Schaumburg, Illinois 60196, for purchase of a Motorola Model APX 7500 Consolette radio under Ohio State Term Schedule Pricing, #STS 573077-0-1; quote attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of SIX THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ($6,600) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the LETF Fund to 225.211.5512, LETF, Capital Equipment to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2012, passed January 2, 2012, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
