TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SHELLY & SANDS, INC., FOR TAYLOR ROAD RECONSTRUCTION, IMPROVEMENT NO. 645, FOR $1,431,000; TO PROVIDE $874,000 ADDITIONAL FUNDING THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY
Body
WHEREAS, bids were received on April 03, 1998, and the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder has been recommended to this Council by the Director of Public Service and the City Engineer; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative, due to the number of street miles to be covered by this program, to move rapidly to approve this authorizing contract in order to complete street overlay before the winter season for orderly movement of traffic and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with SHELLY & SANDS, INC., 1565 Harmon Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43223 for a total amount of One Million Four Hundred Thirty-one Thousand ($1,431,000) for Taylor Road Reconstruction, Improvement No. 645, in accordance with City and bid specifications.

Section 2. That funding in the amount of $1,010,000 was set aside in the 1998 Appropriations for this project to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets.

Section 3. That the additional amount of EIGHT THOUSAND SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($874,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.

Section 4. That Ordinance No. 980001, passed January 2, 1998, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
