TO HONOR AND COMMEND WAYNE L. HOWARD FOR 31 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE CITY OF GAHANNA POLICE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, has dedicated himself to the service of the citizens of the City of Gahanna for 31 years, as a Police Officer and moving up through the ranks to the positions of Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant and Deputy Chief, giving unselfishly of his time and having a great love for the City and its people; and
WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, was appointed to the position of Police Officer in July of 1969, Police Sergeant in July 1971, and Police Lieutenant in July of 1972; and
WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, was given Awards of Commendation for Meritorious Achievement and Service by the City of Gahanna in 1974 and 1979; and
WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, was promoted to the position of Police Captain, which was later renamed Deputy Chief, on March 28, 1992, and served in that capacity until his retirement December 30, 2000 when he retired; and
WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, was instrumental in developing the East Side Communication Center, which will incorporate joint dispatching for the Gahanna/Reynoldsburg areas along with several townships; and
WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, served as the City's Disaster Program Manager for many years; and
WHEREAS, WAYNE L. HOWARD, has proven himself as a loyal dedicated employee to the City of Gahanna for 31 years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration, on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna, do hereby honor and commend WAYNE L. HOWARD for exemplary service to the City of Gahanna and its Police Department.
Section 2. That WAYNE L. HOWARD is given the best wishes of all who have known him and had the privilege of working with him.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
