WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, has been a resident of Gahanna for the last eleven years and is a 1995 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School; and

WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, has set an exemplary standard for athletes as Captain for both her high school swim team and the University of Georgia's swim team; and

WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, holds six current records at Gahanna Lincoln High School in the following events: 200-meter Medley Relay in 1993, the 200-meter Individual Medley in 1995, the 500-meter Free-style in 1993, the 200-meter Free-style in 1995, the 100-meter backstroke in 1995, and the 400-meter Free-style in 1993; and

WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, has achieved status as an Academic All-American and Honor student at the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, was the 1994 and 1995 State Champion in the 100-meter backstroke and finished third in the 1996 Olympic Trials; and

WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, was a member of the 1999 United States World Games team; and

WHEREAS, AMANDA ADKINS, is currently the thirteenth fastest American ever in the 200-meter Backstroke; and

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, August 15, 2000, AMANDA ADKINS, qualified for the United States Olympic team, at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the 200-meter Backstroke;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That this Council and Administration, on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna, do hereby commend AMANDA ADKINS for her personal achievements over the last fifteen years, and the awards received, and wish her luck in the 2000 Olympics held in Sydney, Australia, and in all other future endeavors.

Section 2. That the best wishes and heart felt prayers of the citizens of Gahanna will be with AMANDA ADKINS as she represents the United States, the State of Ohio, and the City of Gahanna at the 2000 Olympics in Sydne...
