TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SHAW AND HOLTER, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE MORSE ROAD CULVERT; IMPROVEMENT NO. 759; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $40,000; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, plans have been designed and approved by the City Engineer, and the City of Columbus for the Morse Road Culvert; and

 

WHEREAS, this is a joint project with the City of Columbus, and they will be reimbursing Gahanna for a portion of the funding; and 

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project due to construction time remaining this year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with SHAW AND HOLTER, INC., 2625 Coonpath Road, NE, Lancaster, Ohio  43130, for construction of the Morse Road Culvert; Improvement No. 759, in accordance with bid and City specifications; bid tab attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($40,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That funding in the amount of SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($60,000) was appropriated in the 2000 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to further cover the herein costs.

 

Section 4.  That ORD-1-2000, passed January 3, 2000, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 5.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is  declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
