RESOLUTION TO HONOR AND COMMEND THE GAHANNA JUNIOR LIONS FOOTBALL TEAM.

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is fortunate to have a number of large, active, youth sports organizations staffed by volunteer administrators and coaches; and

 

WHEREAS, one of those organizations is The Gahanna Junior League Football Association serving in excess of one thousand youngsters who make up the 27 team organization; and

 

WHEREAS, The Gahanna Junior Lions, one of three traveling teams representing the local organization, had a 2001 season record of 12-0; and

 

WHEREAS, The Gahanna Junior Lions obtained their 11th and 12th wins while competing in the Midwest Regional Football Championship held in Louisville, Kentucky; where in the semi-finals the Lions defeated the New Albany Stars, Indiana state champions, by a score of 33-6; and

 

WHEREAS, the championship game featured the Lions and the Beutchel Browns, reigning Kentucky state champions, where both teams put 30 game winning streaks on the line with the Gahanna Lions prevailing 12-0;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That this Council and Administration recognizes THE GAHANNA JUNIOR LIONS FOOTBALL TEAM for their successful tournament play.

 

Section 2.  That THE GAHANNA JUNIOR LIONS have shown how an exemplary commitment to practice, team, play, and cooperation with others can lead to success.

 

Section 3.  That the Council and Administration also recognizes and appreciates the support, time, and effort that the coaches, league officials, and parents have put forth to assist these youngsters in their pursuit of both fun and excellence.

 

Section 4.  That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
