TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO ENGAGEMENT LETTER WITH JULIAN & GRUBE, INC., TO PERFORM THE 2007 FINANCIAL AUDIT FOR THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, an annual financial audit is performed by the Auditor of State's office and they have the option to engage an Independent Public Accounting firm to conduct this audit; and

 

WHEREAS, the Auditor of State's office has chosen Julian & Grube to perform the 2007 audit; and

 

WHEREAS, with new auditing standards, Julian & Grube must now have an engagement letter approved by City Council; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this contract as the audit report must be completed by June 30, 2008, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into engagement letter with Julian & Grube, Inc., 333 County Line Road West, Westerville, OH  43081 for the 2007 financial audit of the City of Gahanna, said engagement letter attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWENTY FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($24,150) was set aside in the 2008 appropriations to Account No. 101.135.5293, Audit Services, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
