TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH GGC ENGINEERING, FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE 16 INCH WATER LINE ON WEST JOHNSTOWN ROAD; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $11,670 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the original contract with GGC Engineers approved by ORD-0109-2001 was for design of the roadway improvement for West Johnstown Road; and
WHEREAS, letter proposal dated March 5, 2003 for engineering services to replace the waterline has been received from GGC ENGINEERS, and has been recommended by the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, due to the asbestos cement in the existing waterline it has been targeted for replacement and would be a viable project to do at the same time as the road widening, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with GGC Engineering, 104 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for design engineering services for water line replacement on West Johnstown Road, said services to be in accordance with proposal letter, dated March 5, 2003, attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and all in accordance with City specifications.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of ELEVEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SEVENTY DOLLARS ($11,670) has been appropriated in the 2003 appropriations to Account No. 651.350.5445, Water Engineering.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
