TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO EXTENDED CONTRACT WITH RUMPKE OF OHIO, INC., FOR RESIDENTIAL REFUSE, RECYCLING & YARD WASTE COLLECTION IN THE CITY OF GAHANNA.

WHEREAS, the Central Ohio Solid Waste Consortium has completed the three year term of the original solid waste contract with Rumpke, and the agreement further allows for two, one year extensions upon mutual consent; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service is recommending that all the terms and conditions of the original agreement remain in effect for 2009 except that the price per residential unit for curbside pickup will increase;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into extended contract with RUMPKE OF OHIO, INC., 10795 Hughes Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45251, for collection of residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste in the City of Gahanna, in accordance with City specifications; contract extension attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding will be set aside to Account No. 850.345.5420, Refuse Escrow, in the 2009 Appropriations to cover any herein costs.
Section 3. That, this legislation shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and on 30 days from date of signature approval by the Mayor.
