WHEREAS, a Petition for the annexation of 5.967+/- acres from Jefferson Township to the City of Gahanna has been filed by Harrison W. Smith, Jr., agent for petitioners; and

WHEREAS, a hearing on said Petition is scheduled before the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County on February 6, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Section 709.31 of the Ohio Revised Code requires that before said hearing the Municipal Legislative Authority shall adopt a statement indicating what services, if any, the municipal corporation will provide to the territory proposed for annexation upon annexation, and it is, therefore, necessary to effect this legislation prior to the hearing date for the orderly progression of the annexation procedure, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That the City of Gahanna will provide the following municipal services for the 5.967+/- acres in Jefferson Township upon the acceptance of the annexation of the said area to the City of Gahanna:

POLICE:

1. The tract is located on a main thoroughfare.

2. The City of Gahanna provides 24-hour police protection, criminal investigation and traffic control through the efforts of various segments of the Division of Police. The Department is comprised of 53 sworn full-time officers, 5 sworn part-time officers, 25 sworn Reserve officers, and 8 civilians.

3. Optimally the Department operates 8 cruisers on patrol throughout the City per shift; a shift never has less than 5 cruisers on patrol.
