TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR CLEAN OHIO CONSERVATION PROGRAM FUNDS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY ALONG THE BIG WALNUT CREEK FOR GREEN SPACE PRESERVATION.

WHEREAS, the Ohio Public Works Commission has funds available for green space acquisition as part of the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund (COCF); and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has requested that application be made for Clean Ohio Funds for the acquisition of 6.45 acres of property on James Road along the Big Walnut Creek for green space preservation and future trail development; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna supports and has a need for such improvements; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is eligible to apply for approximately $60,500 in grant funding and will contribute approximately $20,750 in matching funds to benefit its citizens and the environment;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to sign and submit the COCF application for the approximately 6.45 acres of property located at 258 James Road; 294 James Road; and 312 James Road, all located in the City of Gahanna.

 

Section 2.  That this Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to submit an application to the State of Ohio Public Works Commission for a Clean Ohio Conservation Fund grant for the total project amount determined to support the property acquisition for green space.

 

Section 3.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents required by the COCF law, policies and agreements in making such application and, if the City is selected as a grant recipient, accepting the grand funds.

 

Section 4.  That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
