TO HONOR AND COMMEND EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH THE "TO SERVE AND TO HONOR" PROJECT.

WHEREAS, students at Gahanna Lincoln High School initiated the project now known as 'TO SERVE AND TO HONOR"; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the project is to honor veterans who attended Gahanna Lincoln High School; and
WHEREAS, students collaborated with their teachers in the development of a Service Learning Grant; and
WHEREAS, students assumed the leadership roles in all facets of the project, from design to dedication; and
WHEREAS, the efforts of the students generated community and business support resulting in over $150,000 in financial pledges and over $80,000 of in-kind services; and
WHEREAS, the efforts of the students resulted in a magnificent memorial plaza featuring 20 10' granite columns, 80 permanent pavers, 38 inscribed benches, and a permanent memorial tribute inscribed on columns in honor of the 16 Gahanna Lincoln students who gave their lives in service of our great community and nation; and
WHEREAS, we honor and commend all those who participated in the project, the "To Serve and To Honor Committee", Gahanna Eastland, and Fairfield architectural students, WGLH Television Students, GLHS Student Council members, and the Gahanna Lincoln Golden Lions Marching Band, all with whom the project would not have been possible; and
WHEREAS, this memorial will serve as a focal point for the whole community while honoring all Gahanna Lincoln veterans, past, present and future;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna, do hereby honor and commend everyone associated with the "TO HONOR AND TO SERVE" project.
Section 2. That everyone associated with the project is given our heartfelt thanks for this great contribution to our City.
