SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION - Police Duty Weapon Fund

WHEREAS, the Police Duty Weapons Fund was established to provide firearms to Officers who wish to purchase their own in lieu of accepting general issue handguns; and
WHEREAS, the weapons are purchased by the City out of the Police Duty Weapons Fund with participating Officers establishing a payroll deduction to repay the City over 26 pay periods; and
WHEREAS, there is risk for the balance of the Police Duty Weapon Fund to become negative as the weapons are purchased in advance of the payroll deductions; and
WHEREAS, in order to maintain a positive fund balance, an advance from the General Fund is required at this time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of NINETEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS ($19,320) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.991.5950, General Fund - Advances.
Section 2. That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to perform the advance of NINETEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS ($19,320) from the General Fund to the Police Duty Weapons Fund.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of NINETEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS ($19,320) is hereby transferred from Account No. 101.991.5950, General Fund - Advances, to Account No. 515.4001, Police Duty Weapons Fund.
Section 4. That ORD-0001-2014, passed January 2, 2014, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
