RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE COLUMBUS METROPOLITAN LIBRARY LEVY RENEWAL

WHEREAS, the Columbus Metropolitan Library promotes lifelong learning among the residents of Central Ohio by ensuring access to information, providing a diverse collection, and advancing literacy by encouraging children and families to read; and
WHEREAS, the resources of the Columbus Metropolitan Library benefit all the citizens of Columbus and Franklin County by enhancing the quality of life in our community, providing residents with the information they need to be successful in the 21st century; and
WHEREAS, the presence of the Library and its programs contribute to an educated work force and prevent adult illiteracy by helping children develop a lifelong reading habit; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Metropolitan Library has been recognized as the best library in the United States for the value, service and resources it provides the citizens of Central Ohio; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Metropolitan Library has placed Issue 60 on the November 7, 2000 ballot seeking to renew the Library Levy at no increase in taxes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this council endorses the Columbus Metropolitan Library levy renewal request, and urges the members of the community to support the issue.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
