TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH CHARTER HILL CONSTRUCTION, INC., TO REPAIR AND RESTORE COLUMNS AT CITY HALL; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has informed Council on numerous occasions on the deteriorating status of the columns at City Hall; and
WHEREAS, informal quotes were requested for completion of this work and only one company responded; and
WHEREAS, funding in the amount of $26,700 is available in 2001 funds for this work to be completed; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this work as quickly as possible for the integrity of the columns and all for the preservation of the public peace, health safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with CHARTER HILL CONSTRUCTION, INC., P O BOX 27311, Columbus, OH 43227, for column repair and restoration at City Hall.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of $26,700 was appropriated in the 2001 Appropriations to Account No. 101.141.5511, Capital Projects, Lands and Buildings, and can be used to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That second reading of this legislation is hereby waived.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
