TO AMEND CHAPTER 505, ANIMALS AND FOWL, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of the Gahanna has incurred problems with ongoing minor misdemeanor complaints regarding dogs; and

WHEREAS, a review was undertaken by the Police Department and the City Attorney of Chapter 505; and

WHEREAS, Council has reviewed this code section and is in concurrence to amend Chapter 505; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this so that the new laws can be in effect, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1.  That Chapter 505, Animals and Fowl, is hereby amended as shown in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.

Section 2.  That existing Chapter 505, Animals and Fowl, is hereby repealed.

Section 3.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
