TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH LAFAYETTE ELECTRIC, INC., FOR SIGNALIZATION IMPROVEMENTS AT STYGLER ROAD AT US 62 & AGLER ROAD; IMPROVEMENT NO. 918; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on February 8, 2008 and the lowest, most responsive and responsible bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service and the City Engineer; and

 

WHEREAS, funding for the project will be from the County Permissive Taxes; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project so that the work can begin as soon as possible for the safety of the residents of Gahanna, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into contract with LAFAYETTE ELECTRIC, INC., 1050 Lafayette Road, Medina, Ohio 44836, for signal improvements at the Stygler Road at US 62 & Agler Road intersection; in accordance with City specifications; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SEVENTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($78,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the County Permissive Fund to Account No. 231.330.5596, Capital Projects/Improvements County Permissive, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2008, passed January 2, 2008 is hereby  amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
