WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna wishes to pursue alternative fuels and can do so with compressed natural gas (CNG) by working collaboratively with Central Ohio jurisdictions; and
 
WHEREAS, there is an opportunity to receive a CNG Planning Grant that may assist partners in further developing plans for the implementation of CNG infrastructure in the region; and
 
WHEREAS, with the signing of this letter the parties agree to pursue a collaborative application with the MORPC Planning Commission as lead applicant for a Local Government Innovation Fund grant for a feasibility study of CNG; and
 
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this at the earliest possible date as this process is time sensitive, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign a letter Expressing the Intention of Central Ohio Jurisdictions and Partners to Work Collaboratively for Compressed Natural Gas Services; Letter attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
 
Section 2.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
