TO HONOR AND COMMEND THE GAHANNA LIONS CLUB FOR CONTINUING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

WHEREAS, the GAHANNA LIONS CLUB was chartered on December 10, 1945; and
WHEREAS, the GAHANNA LIONS CLUB began organizing the 4th of July Parade in 1968 and has done it every year since; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with the parade, the GAHANNA LIONS CLUB held a fish fry for several years and then in 1957 started the chicken barbecue which ran continuously until the past couple of years; and
WHEREAS, the GAHANNA LIONS CLUB provides the American flags that hang along Gahanna streets and purchased and installed the flag pole by the Police Station; and
WHEREAS, it is the dedication, hard work, and perseverance of the members of the GAHANNA LIONS CLUB through the last fifty years that has allowed this outstanding service to the community, especially with their involvement with the 4th of July parade;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration, on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna, do hereby honor and commend the GAHANNA LIONS CLUB for their exemplary service to the community with their involvement in the 4th of July activities over the years and all their other community activities.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
