TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH WOODWARD COMPANY INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE; HARRISON POND; IMPROVEMENT NO. 804; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $12,960; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, there have been pressure distribution problems in the Harrison Pond area for some time and a pressure reducing valve should alleviate the problem; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has asked that the bid process be waived and that letter quotes be accepted; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended we proceed with Woodward Company Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the timely construction of this project is imperative, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with Woodward Company Inc., 7340 Tussing Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 43068, for construction of a water Pressure Reducing Valve for the Harrison Pond area, Improvement No. 804.
Section 2. That the bidding process is hereby waived for this project.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of FORTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($45,000) was set aside in the 2001 appropriations in Account No. 652.351.5595, Water PRV, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That funding in the amount of TWELVE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($12,960) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the WSCI to Account No. 652.351.5595, Water PRV, to cover the herein costs.
Section 5. That ORD-0001-2001 is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 6. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance shall be declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
