TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR UNUSED VACATION TIME TO GEORGE JACKSON; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, George Jackson, the Water Resource Engineer, has to fill the additional responsibility of the Water Sewer Foreman position since September 10, 1999' and

 

WHEREAS, this necessitated using time which had been set aside for vacation in order to ensure the smooth operation of the Water/Sewer Department; and

 

WHEREAS, it is not practical to carry this amount of vacation time forward to the year 2000; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to proceed to pay for this vacation accrual prior to the end of the close of the Financial Accounts prior to January 1, 2000, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare of the residents;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE OCUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That it is recognized by this Council that George Jackson exhibited responsibility in executing the above described duties in the absence of personnel, and is entitled to reimbursement.

 

Section 2.  That the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay George Jackson the amount of ONE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY & 76/100 DOLLARS ($1,960.76) as reimbursement for his 73.54 additional hours of vacation accrual that cannot be carried over; said funding to come from ACCOUNT NO. 651.350.5110 AND ACCOUNT NO. 661.360.5110, which is funding remaining in the Foreman position funding.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and upon date of signature approval by the Mayor.
