WHEREAS, the City received funds from the Bureau of Worker's Compensation as a 4% refund for our participation in the Capital Area Safety Council; and

 

WHEREAS, the BWC encourages employers to reinvest this money in a safety program or in safety supplies; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources has recommended we proceed with SafeX for the development of a Safety Matrix to determine appropriate training required for our employees; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance for the safety of our employees and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with SAFEX, 140 North Otterbein Avenue, Westerville, Ohio 43081, to provide safety services for development of a Safety Matrix to determine appropriate training required for employees; Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of ELEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($11,350) was set aside in the 2008 Appropriations to Account No. 101.125.5325, Safety Supplies, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
