TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH NICKOLAS SAVKO & SONS, INC. FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF FENCHURCH WAY AND FAIRHOLM ROAD, IMPROVEMENT NO. 694; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $175,500; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids were received on May 22, 1998, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible and responsive bidder has been recommended by the City Engineer and Director of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, due to the approaching summer season, it is necessary to proceed with the work for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with NICKOLAS SAVKO & SONS, INC., 4636 Shuster Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214, for the reconstruction of Fenchurch Way and Fairholm Road, Improvement No. 694, in accordance with bid submitted May 22, 1998, and in accordance with City specifications; bid tabulation attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That the amount of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($175,500) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the General Fund to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Improvements, Streets; that ONE HUNDRED THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($137,500) has already been appropriated to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Improvements, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That Ordinance No. 98001, passed January 2, 1998, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
