Title

 

TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH JESS HOWARD ELECTRIC COMPANY TO ENHANCE THE GRANVILLE STREET PROJECT WITH ADDITIONAL FIBER OPTIC COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM COMPONENTS NOT FUNDED BY FEDERAL HIGHWAY FUNDS; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $169,150 THEREFOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Jess Howard is the Electrical Subcontractor for the Granville Street Rebuild; and

 

WHEREAS, Council desires the installation of fiber optic cable from City Hall along Granville Street to Olde Ridenour Road; and

 

WHEREAS, this proposal will include the necessary equipment to provide video surveillance of traffic at Mill and Granville and at the bike path under the bridge; and

 

WHEREAS, with the project underway it is a prerequisite to completion of this beneficial project in a timely fashion, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with  JESS HOWARD ELECTRIC COMPANY, 6630 Taylor Road, Blacklick, Ohio 43004 in conjunction with the proposal attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of  ONE HUNDRED SIXTY NINE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($169,150) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the General Fund to ACCOUNT NO. 101.145.5541, CAPITAL PROJECTS, STREETS.

 

Section 3.  That Ordinance No. 980001, passed January 2, 1998, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
