TO AMEND CHAPTER 105, WARDS AND BOUNDARIES, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, this City established Wards within the City by Ordinance No. 32-75 and reestablished the wards by Ordinance 90-78, Ordinance 140-92 and ORD-0248-2001; and
 
WHEREAS, by ORD-0234-2012 and ORD-0082-2013 changes were again made to the wards which will not go into effect until the regular municipal election in 2017; and this required that 2 sets of ward descriptions be incorporated into the code for the next 4 years; and
 
WHEREAS, it is the intention of this Council to again amend the code in relation to the ward boundaries in order to incorporate the changes now scheduled for 2017 to be effective immediately; and
 
WHEREAS, these changes need to be in effect prior to year end to take effect for the next election cycle of the Franklin County Board of Elections; and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO;
 
Section 1.  That Chapter 105, Wards and Boundaries, of the Codified Ordinances of Gahanna, is hereby amended as set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached and made a part herein.
 
Section 2.  That existing Chapter 105, Wards and Boundaries, or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
 
Section  3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
