TO URGE THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE TO CONSIDER ITS RELOCATION AND SPACE REQUIREMENT DECISIONS FOR THE GAHANNA BRANCH

WHEREAS, the Post Office has made an apparent decision to not include the retail operation in the proposed new project; and

 

WHEREAS, some concurence exists for combining the two operations at the new facility location among local postal officials, however, the postal service hierarchy is not in agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the Post Office chose to disregard the zoning codes of the City of Gahanna when relocating its retail operation; and

 

WHEREAS, the retail operation location creates severe traffic congestion and has accessibility problems and inadequate parking; and

 

WHEREAS, inconvenience to Gahanna businesses and residents will persist if the units are not combined in the planned new facility;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That this Council and Administration strongly emphasizes that the Post Office should consider its relocation and space requirement decisions for the Gahanna Post Office an emergency priority.

 

Section 2.  That this Council and Administration strongly urge the Post Office to provide a combined facility to the businesses and residents of the City of Gahanna.

 

Section 3.  That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
